Mum and dad aka Zendaya and Tom Holland are coming back together on screen, and this time they’re diving into the world of Greek mythology.
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey has finally been revealed, and the amount of A-List celebs joining this project is bonkers! Seriously, I would give anything to be apart of this cast’s group chat.
Here’s everything we know about Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey
The cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey
Nolan’s been dropping names like they’re hot, and oh boy are they sizzling. Alongside our favourite power couple, we’ve got Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.
These A-listers have been reported to be invloved in the project by many publications including Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter one by one over the past few months. Each announcement has sent the internet into a collective meltdown and I’m obsessed!
However, Anne Hathaway is the only actor who has personally confirmed her involvement. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she talked about how excited she was about working with Nolan again. “I love Chris and Emma Nolan so much, and to be invited into their world is, I mean, I know from experience it’s one of the best places you can find yourself”, she said.
Tom Holland also acknowledged his participation in the film during an episode of the Dish podcast, though he admitted he didn’t know much about the plot, stating, “To be perfectly honest… I don’t really know what it’s about”. LMAO we love an honest king.
It’s worth noting that these casting announcements came before the film’s subject was officially revealed.
The plot for Christopher Nolan’s new movie
So, what’s this star-studded extravaganza all about? Nolan’s taking on Homer‘s The Odyssey, the OG epic that caused me many a headache in uni.
We’re talking Greek hero Odysseus trying to get home after the Trojan War, facing off against everything from one-eyed giants to seductive sirens. It’s like the world’s worst commute, but with more togas and fewer traffic lights.
Universal Pictures dropped the news on X (formerly Twitter): “Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” they wrote.
“The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time.”
While we don’t know who’s playing who yet, one thing’s for sure — with war, Greek Gods, sorcery, sea creatures, and major political drama, there’s plenty of material for Nolan to work his magic on. Plus, if I get to see Robert Pattinson AND Tom Holland in a toga I will be happy no matter what.
When is the release date for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?
Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and maybe start lining up now, because The Odyssey is set to hit IMAX screens on July 17, 2026. Yes, I regret to inform you that you did in fact read that right — 2026.
Filming for The Odyssey is set to kick off next year, which means we’ve got plenty of time to brush up on our Greek mythology.
So there you have it people. Nolan’s taking on one of the oldest stories in the book. Will it be a masterpiece or an epic Greek tragedy? Only time will tell.
