Among these places is the Zefti Barrage, or as the people of the center and the city call it, the “Fifty Eyes” area, which is located in the village of Dahtoura, one of the villages affiliated with the center and city of Zefti in the Gharbia Governorate, overlooking the banks of the Nile River. It is distinguished by the presence of a waterfall in it, which gives it a wonderful view and is an icon of beauty. .
The Zefta Barrage is located in the village of Dahtoura on the Nile River, Rasheed Branch, after the city of Zefta. It is one of the most important main passages linking the Gharbia Governorate to Dakahlia, as it is located on the other side of the village of Kafr Saranga, affiliated with the center and city of Mit Ghamr, and it is considered one of the most important and unique architectural monuments within the entire Gharbia Governorate.
These arches, known as the “Fifty Spring,” were constructed during the reign of Khedive Abbas Helmy II, where the last stone in the building was placed on March 7, 1903, in order to provide water to reach an area of one million acres by feeding the Damietta branch. It witnessed great development work and special attention from The country during the past few years, as the Minister of Irrigation visited it more than once to follow up on the development work and maintenance of the reservoirs more than once, and the infrastructure and the upper bridge were completely developed, which is distinguished by its architectural construction. The ancient archaeological site, as well as the installation of iron fences and surveillance cameras around the entire area, to protect the lives of children from drowning during celebrations of official occasions and holidays.
