Woolworths employees spill the ‘secret’ 3pm detail in all stores that no shoppers know about: ‘Drives me crazy’
Woolworths employees have revealed the ‘secret’ 3pm song that plays every day in all stores across Australia.
The catchy, upbeat ‘Pump It Up!’ tune by Belgian musician Danzel is said to give employees an energy boost and motivate them to power through their shift.
‘Did you know that the Pump It Up! song plays at 3.02pm every day in all stores? It’s so we can pump our vibes,’ Woolworths employees said.
Two workers, from a Queensland store, shared an amusing video showing their team dancing in the cold food aisle to the tune in the afternoon.
‘At our store, we dance,’ they said.
The 3pm discovery prompted a discussion on The Fox’s Melbourne breakfast radio show Fifi, Fev and Nick this week.
‘Apparently at 3pm every day at Woolworths, they play the same song that encourages the staff to work harder,’ Fifi Box said.
Her co-host Brendan Fevola responded in disbelief: ‘Oh, shut up… Do they really?’

The trio got a Woolworths employee to confirm the 3pm song was in fact true.
‘Yes it is, at 3 o’clock every day,’ the worker said.
‘It’s a reminder to department managers to prepare their evening trade by playing the same song to pump up the team for the night.’
A Woolworths spokesperson replied to the radio show’s video, saying: ‘Can confirm this is correct. But it’s actually 3.02pm and not a second earlier.’
One worker responded, joking: ‘As a Woolies worker, I can tell you it doesn’t pump us up and we collectively groan.’
Another added: ‘Never noticed (the song) until my manager told me about it a month ago. Now I can’t not hear it when it plays.’
One worker revealed: ‘As a Woolies employee, we actually have no idea why it plays every day at 3pm. As far as we know it means nothing.’
While another employee shared: ‘It drives me crazy but then I’m like, ‘Yes one hour (of work) until home time.’
The 3pm detail emerged on social media this week after Woolworths customer Abby heard the Pump It Up! tune when she was doing her grocery shop.
‘Did you know that Pump It Up! plays at 3pm in every Woolworths every day?’ she said.
‘I always listen out for it and it’s true! 3pm baby.’
Many were stunned with the revelation, with one saying: ‘I was in Woolies yesterday at 3pm and I was shocked to hear it playing over the speakers. Now I know why.’
‘Wait, I literally asked a worker about this and they said there’s a specific routine and the song reminds them,’ another shared.
Meanwhile, many revealed Coles has their own tune on repeat from 2pm every day.
‘Coles still has the 2pm ‘Rumble’ song and you’re meant to get together and clear rubbish and cardboard from aisles. No one ever does,’ one worker said, laughing.
‘I work at Coles. Every day at 2pm ‘Are You Ready To Rumble’ plays so we’re reminded to take cardboard and face the shelves,’ another employee said.
