A woman has died and a child is injured after a car smashed into a tree in rural Victoria.
The woman was behind the wheel along Axesdale Toolleen Road in Toolleen, northern Victoria, when her car smashed into a tree at about 2.45pm on Sunday.
Emergency services rushed to the crash site but the 63-year-old driver died at the scene.
A nine-year-old child, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered lower body injuries and was rushed to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.
A 70-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the car, was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after sustaining serious injuries in the crash.
Police have launched an investigation into the crash and have yet to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the road and hit into the tree.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
