Woman is decapitated after jumping to her death in front of horrified wedding guests in Manhattan
An elderly woman has fallen to her death from a Manhattan high rise in front of horrified wedding guests – and she was decapitated as her body hit the side of the building on the way down.
The unidentified 81-year-old plummeted from the 28th story of the luxury Park Regis Apartments in New York’s Upper East Side on Saturday around 3.30pm, the NYPD told DailyMail.com.
A wedding was being held at the time at a Carnegie Hill church, according to local news outlet Upper East Site.
Horrified witnesses recalled the moment she was decapitated after becoming caught on railings and balconies on the side of the building.
‘I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head,’ a building resident told the New York Post on Saturday. ‘The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace.’

They added that a fence at the bottom of the apartment was left bent from the impact, and the woman’s clothes were stuck to it.
‘The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death,’ the NYPD said in a statement.
‘The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
‘The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending proper family notification.’
It comes after film industry tycoon J. Michael Cline jumped to his death from the 20th floor of a luxury hotel in Midtown Manhattan earlier this year.
The 64-year-old co-founder of movie-ticketing firm Fandango leaped from The Kimberly Hotel, landing in a courtyard on the third floor, in July.
His business had struggled during the pandemic which saw movie theaters shutter or forced to follow restrictions on the number of audience numbers allowed for almost two years.
Cline, who was a ‘serial entrepreneur’ and managing partner at the startup-funding firm Accretive, is said to have left a note before taking his life.
