Woman confesses a splinter has been stuck in her eye for 10 years after Harry Potter World trip

A woman has revealed she has been living with a splinter in her eye for the past 10 years – and has no plans of removing it.

Sydney White was at Harry Potter World in California with her family when she felt something fly into her eye.

Soon enough, the 27-year-old felt a burning sensation in her eyeball and it became swollen.

She admitted that she felt a ‘searing pain’ in her eye and wasn’t able to open it.

It took ‘weeks’ for the swelling to go down, with Sydney finally being able to spot the tiny wood scrap that was in her eye.

And although it sometimes felt ‘scratchy,’ the 27-year-old revealed she wouldn’t be removing it.

She said that doctors never told her she needed to remove it, so she has kept the splinter lodged in her eye all these years later.

The Idaho-based content creator added she held no negativity towards Harry Potter World despite the unfortunate incident.

She noted that she felt the tiny piece of wood fly into her eye while out with her family.

The 27-year-old recounted the incident in a viral TikTok video, which has so far amassed more than 422,000 views.

‘I was on a day out [and] went on a tour with my family.  While there, the tour guide pointed up to some building work,’ she said.

‘As she did so and I looked up, I felt a searing pain in my left eye that wouldn’t go away. It took a couple of weeks for the pain to subside and redness to go down, but when I finally could look at my eye, I saw it.

‘A tiny piece of wood had fallen into my eyeball.’

Although it is painful at times, she never had it removed.

She said: ‘If an eye doctor had told me to remove it, I would have.

‘I suppose there could be risk of infection if removed, but there’s always a risk of it affecting my eyesight, if it hasn’t already.’

Even 10 years after the incident, Sydney shared that her eye was still sore.

‘On occasion it does bother me, it feels scratchy. If I press on my lid on the splinter site it is sore still, even 10 years later,’ she said.

In the clip, the camera zooms into Sydney’s eye, putting the piece of wood on full display.

The piece of wood is in the sclera, which is the white part of the eyeball, but is extremely close to her iris, which is the colored area that contains the pupil.

She captioned the video: ‘Hey, your eyes have a little wood in them.’

People on the web were left stunned by her confession as they flocked to the comments section and expressed their shock.

One person joked: ‘Girl that’s your wand.’

Someone else wrote: ‘Ok so are you gonna tell us why you still have it in there?’
