Within an initiative "The eyes of our children, our future".. 225 thousand children were examined in Gharbia Governorate
Representative Ibrahim Al-Deeb, a member of the House of Representatives, said that the second phase of the cooperation protocol signed by Gharbia Governorate, regarding the “Our Children’s Eyes, Our Future” initiative. It aims to examine the eyes of 225,000 male and female primary school children in the villages and hamlets of the governorate, and this is done in cooperation with the Directorate of Education and Health.
A member of the House of Representatives in the Gharbia Governorate confirmed that the second phase of the project aims to cover the rest of the centers in the Western Governorate. With the full support of the International Lions Foundation, in cooperation with the education and health departments in the governorate, the initiative comes within the framework of the governorate’s keenness to improve the medical services provided to students, and the second phase targets 50% of students in rural areas. In the governorate, the initiative has covered 100% of the students in the entire governorate’s centers.
Al-Deeb added that the initiative aims to carry out specialized medical examinations and examinations, through a professional medical team supported by the latest equipment, and the necessary therapeutic supplies for medical cases will be distributed and glasses will be prepared. Medical care for eligible cases is delivered to students in their schools free of charge, and cases that require surgical interventions are transferred to specialized hospitals.
Al-Deeb indicated that it is among The protocol focuses on holding awareness lectures for school faculty members to introduce vision problems and ways to prevent them, in cooperation with the International Association of Lions Clubs and the Directorates of Education and Health in Gharbia Governorate, pointing out that the “Our Children’s Eyes, Our Future” program It began globally more than twenty years ago, and more than 48 million students in Africa, Asia and the Pacific received high-quality eye examinations, and more than half a million free medical glasses were distributed, stressing that such protocols will have a great impact in providing the necessary medical service to students. And improving vision health among school children, which will have a positive impact on their academic achievement and performance.
