Wild moment a house tumbles down a hill after a horror landslide on the Mornington Peninsula

An entire home has fallen down a hill on a residential street after a deafening landslide rocked Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula. 

First responders rushed to the scene on Penny Lane in McCrae after an emergency alert was issued at 8.49am on Tuesday. 

One person has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after being treated for a minor injury by paramedics at the scene. 

It’s understood the County Fire Authority (CFA) is inspecting the site to ensure no other structures are at risk following the landslide. 

A spokeswoman from the CFA said that five units are at the scene assisting first responders. 

Crews from the SES are also at the scene and working to clear the area to ensure the safety of locals,’ the ABC reports. 

Resident Karen O’Halloran described the sound of the house sliding down the hill as ‘horrendous’ on social media.

‘I just witnessed the whole thing and I’m still in shock. Our emergency services are amazing,’ she wrote. 

Another resident described the incident as ‘terrifying’. 

Point Nepean Road has been closed in McCrea in both directors near Penny Lane. 

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area.
