Why you should ditch Kmart and shop rival store’s luxury ‘French Farmhouse’ homewares that start at $2.50

The Reject Shop is taking on the likes of Kmart and Target with a designer-inspired homewares range that rivals collections from high-end brands.
The Aussie budget store’s new French Farmhouse collection takes inspiration from rural homesteads and farm animals like cows, pigs and sheep but with a chic, Parisian twist.
Starting from just $2.50 a piece, the range features bowls, plates, coffee tumblers and gorgeous glass cutting boards worthy of a country manor.
Traditional blues and whites of French crockery have been incorporated throughout, with beautiful reds woven among them for a pop of colour.
Each piece has a striking resemblance to the hugely popular Gucci Herbarium collection where a teacup and saucer set of two will set you back a cool $900.
Speaking to FEMAIL, a Reject Shop spokesperson said this is just the beginning for the store as it continues to grow its affordable (and high quality) homewares offering.
‘We are always experimenting with quirky and charming homewares ranges and the idea behind each one is that they build on previous collections,’ they said.
‘We love home decor that gives a colourful personality to spaces, giving our customers the chance to make exciting choices with their interior design while remaining on a budget.’

The store’s top picks include the French White Cow Jug ($18), which can be used for juices, coffee or storing kitchen utensils, the Farmhouse Monogram Mugs ($4) and the Fleur D’Automne plates ($5).
Other buys set to be popular include Farmhouse Egg Cup ($2.50), the Fleur Tumbler Glass ($4), and the Petite Ferme Mug ($4).
FEMAIL understands The Reject Shop is gearing up for a competitive year in the homewares space, with their buyers snapping up the hottest trends from around the world.
‘We have some very exciting homewares collections coming up throughout the year and cannot wait to share them,’ the spokesperson continued.
‘We can’t give away too much, but can share that customers with a green thumb have a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks.’
The French Farmhouse range will be in stores and online from Thursday 23 January.
