In 2024, King Charles and Queen Camilla came Down Under for a cheeky tour. During their Australiana trip, the Queen accidentally ended up as Married at First Sight‘s (MAFS) hottest new intruder. But unfortunately, it appeared that the royal cameo was scrubbed from the final edit. Here’s why Channel Nine ultimately decided to nix the Queen from MAFS.
While the MAFS 2025 boasted a bunch of reality TV stars (the label of ‘stars’ is a long shot, I know), it was also revealed that Queen Camilla made a mini cameo.
While the idea of Camilla entering a Dinner Party as a wildcard bride would’ve ATE, the Queen’s moment on the MAFS screen was reportedly brief.
Camilla reportedly made her MAFS debut during her final public appearance, which took place next to One Global Resorts — the apartments where our MAFS couples were going through reality TV and relationship hell.
The scene reportedly featured couples Dave Hand and Jamie Marinos, and Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly, who were hanging over their balconies to catch a glimpse of the royals.
Unfortunately, the cameo was seemingly nixed from the MAFS edit.
Why did Channel Nine cancel Queen Camilla’s cameo on Married At First Sight?
According to a production insider, Channel Nine ultimately decided to cut the royal from the final edit so viewers could focus on the couples and not the royals.
“It was an amazing moment – the whole cast ran to their balconies to catch a glimpse of Queen Camilla. But ultimately, the producers felt it didn’t serve the storyline,” the insider told Daily Mail Australia.
“There were conversations with higher-ups at Nine and it was agreed it might distract from the core focus of the show. So they wiped it.”
Awww boo! I reckon a Camilla cameo would’ve been the perfect scene to cut all that tension. Especially if the scene included Jacqui and Ryan.
Jamie Marinos spills on Queen Camilla cameo
While we didn’t get to see how the whole kerfuffle unfolded, fan-favourite bride Jamie Marinos described Camilla’s Cameo as “insane”.
“It was insane. It was on a dinner party day because we were getting ready and Dave wanted to have a shower, and I was like, ‘But the Queen is coming! Like, what are the chances?’” she dished to Yahoo! Lifestyle.
“We found out she was coming because we had like, cops and stuff, everyone blocking off the street, and I was like, ‘This is fucking nuts!’. Imagine having front-row seats to the Queen, like our balcony was literally facing her. It was crazy.”
Jamie also added that Dave shouted something at the queen, revealing “it was giving boganic”.
“Whatever was coming out of his mouth, I remember being like, ‘No! We’re classy now!’.”
Hopefully, one day, we get to see this missing footage of the queen on MAFS. Especially if it was before a Dinner Party! Fingers crossed, the Channel Nine gods bless us with a cheeky peek during the Reunion.
