White House criticizes Republicans for trying to limit discussion of ‘gender identity’ in elementary schools

The Joe Biden administration has come under fire from the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature for failing to limit discussions of gender identity in elementary schools.

The White House believes, according to a Bloomberg report, that the new legislation could exacerbate mental health problems among children, gay and transgender people.

According to the bill adopted by the Florida Senate Committee on Education, schools should not “encourage discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in core classes,” because these topics are not appropriate for all age groups.

A White House spokesman, Jane Bucky, said the law is an infringement of security and liberty.

Earlier, the US State Department allocated $400,000 “on the protection of human rights” in Ukraine. In particular, the money will go to protecting the rights of the LGBT community in Ukraine, religious and ethnic minorities, as well as refugees.
