This time last week, the crowd at Copenhagen Fashion Week were nursing sore heads. The AW25 season of shows was coming to an end in the Danish capital, and last Thursday (January 30), Dazed and Pandora threw the ultimate closing party. After a busy five days of back-to-back fashion shows, presentations, talks and events, it was the perfect way to send off another exciting season of Scandi design. And now that we’ve just about recovered, here’s what went down.
While fashion’s musical chairs seem to be in constant flux nowadays, the fashion crowd could barely find their seats at the Dazed x Pandora closing dinner. After a jolly reception featuring several glasses of sparkling wine, a hundred people searching for their own individual place card became an entertaining game. Hosted in the industrial basement venue Pressen, Vester Voldgade 33, some attendees got a sense of déjà vu, having already been there for the 66North presentation earlier in the week.
Eight long, white tables stretched into the space, each illuminated by hot pink lighting. When the crowds eventually found their seats, several familiar faces could be spotted among them – from new-gen fashion talent such as designers Paolina Russo and Alectra Rothschild, to model George Gorg and activist Alana Hadid (sister of Bella and Gigi). Being the final dinner of the week, it was an opportunity to unwind and reflect on the jam-packed few days.
Yes, you read that right. The dinner was catered by Copenhagen-based company Eat Wasted, who create exceptional pasta dishes made from leftover bread. The Italian-style meal began with (actual) sourdough and whipped butter, a winter salad with radicchio, fennel, orange, pumpkin seeds and honey vinaigrette, followed by the main course, Wasted Pasta alla Mezcal (sort of like Nigella’s famous vodka pasta, but made with mezcal and bread). Despite the alcohol content, it was the perfect dish to line our stomachs.
Several servings of pasta later, Swedish artist Yaeger made a surprise appearance with her emotional rave-pop. Alongside her, other acts on the lineup included Atusa, DJ Harty and DJ d2g, the latter of which carried us into the night, far beyond the stroke of midnight. As things began to draw to a close somewhere around 1am, rumours of a Rotate after-party swirled, as did the word “karaoke”, or simply “bed”. However attendees chose to continue their night, we all had at least two things in common: a great time and a hungover trip to the airport.
