Wedding guests watch in disbelief as six police officers pin a man to the ground after alleged stabbing

Dramatic footage has emerged of at least six police officers pinning a man to the ground after an alleged stabbing just metres from wedding guests.

Emergency services were called to a bus stop on Belmore Road in Riverwood, south-west Sydney, following reports of an altercation about 7.55pm on Saturday.

‘Paramedics treated a man in his 50s for a stab wound to his arm and he was transported to St Georges Hospital,’ a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said.

NSW Police were told by witnesses three men had been involved in an altercation, during which a 59-year-old man sustained a large laceration to his bicep after ‘landing on a broken bottle’.

Police then moved to arrest the other two men allegedly involved.

‘Two men – aged 64 and 55 – were arrested with the younger man allegedly resisting officers,’ a police spokesperson said.

‘They were taken to Kogarah Police Station where the younger man was charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.’

The dramatic arrest was witnessed by smartly-dressed attendees of a wedding being held at the Conca D’oro ballroom next door.

At least four police officers, including a suited detective, attempted to pin the man to the ground as he screamed obscenities at them.

He claimed to have been attacked with a scooter, seen lying on the footpath.

Pools of blood could be seen on and underneath a nearby bench seat.

One officer escaped the fray to hand over what appeared to be an evidence bag before he assisted his colleagues in holding the man on the ground.

The man claimed a man ‘fell’ on his bottle, before he was hauled to his feet.

‘Get the f*** off me mate! I’ve done nothing mate!’, he screamed as he was led into a paddy wagon and driven away.

Police then cuffed an older man who had been standing on the sidelines of the previous arrest and marched him from the scene.

The bus stop was cordoned off with police tape with vehicles only allowed to pass after both men had been taken for questioning.
