Watch the shocking moment a knife-wielding woman is tasered and wrestled to the ground by cops
A woman armed with a knife has been tackled to the ground by police after allegedly threatening drivers and blocking traffic on a busy highway.
The tense scenes were captured by a truck driver travelling on the M1 Motorway on the NSW Mid North Coast at 4pm on Tuesday.
In the shocking video, the 52-year-old woman was seen holding the large blade as police officers tried to negotiate with her from about 10metres away.
As the woman begins to advance towards the officers, a man runs up behind her, tasers her, and then crash tackles her to the ground.
Other officers at the scene confiscated the blade, believed to be a machete, before the woman was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.
The 52-year-old had allegedly threatened other drivers and blocked traffic before officers arrived at the scene in Koorainghat, a coastal town near Taree.
She was charged with attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (personal), common assault, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and use knife in public place – cause person to fear for safety.
The woman was refused bail to appear before Taree Local Court on Wednesday.

Officers blocked the northbound lanes of the M1 Motorway as the incident unfolded with drivers temporarily brought to a standstill.
Police investigations into the incident continue.
