Washington Post Owner Jeff Bezos Congratulates Donald Trump On Election Win: “Extraordinary Political Comeback And Decisive Victory”
Jeff Bezos congratulated Donald Trump for his victory in the presidential race, calling it an “extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory.”
He wrote on X, “Big congratulations to our 45th and now 47th President on an extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory. No nation has bigger opportunities. Wishing @realDonaldTrump all success in leading and uniting the America we all love.”
Bezos blocked The Washington Post from endorsing in the presidential race, a decision that led to a reader backlash, with more than 200,000 cancelling their digital subscriptions, according to NPR. Some staffers resigned in protest, as Bezos’ decision was viewed as a way to appease Trump as the Post editorial board was set to back Kamala Harris.
During Trump’s initial term, he routinely bashed Bezos over the Post’s coverage of his administration. Trump threatened to investigate Amazon for antitrust violations. Amazon also contended that Trump steered a Pentagon cloud computing contract from the company as retaliation.
