Vintage Kevin De Bruyne! Man City star hailed for ‘world class’ assist against Brentford – as Belgian star puts it on a plate for Phil Foden

Kevin De Bruyne has been hailed for rolling back the years with a ‘world class’ assist for Phil Foden against Brentford.

The Belgian star put the ball on a plate for his team-mate with a stunning cross as the Englishman volleyed into the corner to put Manchester City 1-0 up on Tuesday night after 66 minutes.

Foden doubled City’s lead 12 minutes later but they were unable to hold on after a late turnaround from the hosts, with Yoane Wissa clawing one back before Christian Norgaard levelled in stoppage time.

De Bruyne is still a fundamental part of the Pep Guardiola operation but came into the game below Savinho and Bernardo Silva in the assists charts this campaign.

If there was any doubt that he still has the visionary spark that has seen him notch 257 assists as club level, he silenced the critics with the pitch-perfect in-swinger from the right.

‘That is world class from Foden and De Bruyne,’ wrote one fan on X.

‘That pass from De Bruyne to Foden just reminded me of the good old days,’ said another.

‘Kevin De Bruyne is like the Lamine Yamal in Barcelona. What a pass to find Phil Foden,’ one wrote.

‘Take nothing away from the finish from Foden but the pass from De Bruyne is INSANE,’ one chimed in.
