Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, announced, during a press conference in Doha, Qatar today – the success of the joint mediation efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America, in Reaching an agreement between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” and Israel, for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners and detainees.
He said that the agreement will enter into force next Sunday, the nineteenth of January, explaining that according to the agreement, Hamas will release 33 hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, with both sides of the negotiation agreeing to continue work tonight to complete the executive aspects.
The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America for their efforts that contributed to moving the negotiations forward, noting that Qatar, Egypt and the United States will work to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
