The Sixth General Conference of the Journalists Syndicate issued its final recommendations, after concluding its work over a period of three days. During its sessions, journalism issues and the challenges it faces were discussed in light of technological development, market economics, developing the capabilities of journalistic cadres, and enhancing the journalism industry. span>
At the level of administrative reform of press institutions, it was recommended to activate the role of the general assemblies of press institutions and provide everything related to the institution’s activity to its members, and not be limited to budgets and annual reports, and to create human resources departments to follow up on the professional development of every journalist and employee, while strengthening the role of financial and administrative governance.
The recommendations also stipulated the establishment of a digital marketing and social media unit that would be responsible for unifying standards in the platforms of press institutions, training and following up on cadres, dealing with every press institution and every publication within it as an independent brand, modernizing functional structures, and organizing programs for training in the skills of those jobs that include all journalists in the institutions.. as well. The recommendations called for completing the procedures for appointing non-appointees to national newspapers.
The recommendations stipulated developing a new regulation for registration in the union that takes into account developments in the labor market and the laws regulating the press and media, and asking the union council to form a committee of members of the General Assembly and the Council to finish developing the new regulation as soon as possible, considering it an urgent necessity.< /span>
With regard to the paper press, the Sixth General Conference recommended following integration and marketing strategies between the printed and digital versions, so that the digital version acts as a catalyst that uses part of the paper content, and works to increase the number of referrals to printed copies and develop an advanced system for distribution in cooperation with various parties, provided that the distribution points are digital and advanced. And supporting the manufacture of paper, inks, and other printing supplies, while directing content strategies towards analysis, depth, and specialization in issues, as opposed to reducing news and relying on creative writing that relies on storytelling and ideas.
