Maariv newspaper said on Friday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sown discord and division among Israeli society, and is leading its security and economy to the abyss with the growing control of the extremist Zionist nationalist movement over the joints of the “state.”
Israeli writer Yehuda Sharoni said; After Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa on October 7, 2023, Netanyahu launched “slogans such as ‘We are all one people, we are brothers, and together we will win,’ but they completely conflicted with the division that Netanyahu planted, and aimed to display a false appearance of unity.” She added in an article published by Maariv newspaper on Friday: “This week we saw how the slogan ‘One People’ looks and works, when right-wing demonstrators attacked the Sde Teiman camp and the military court in Beit Lid.” Sharoni continued: “If only a tenth of the unity slogans had been said in the Bennett-Lapid government, would the government have remained the same until now? However, a sophisticated poison machine like Communications Minister Miri Regev did not suffer from stomach pains when she came to bring down an existing government and did not back down. “Dudi Amsalem did not shut his mouth at the time, which let out nonsense and slander and only magnified the poison machine.” The Israeli writer reviewed some of the practices carried out by Israeli officials before the Knesset recess, and accused Netanyahu’s team of seeking to control positions and jobs. She said that Dudi Amsalem is looking to include the government companies authority in a law that changes the composition of the appointments committee in order to make the authority Likud-friendly, “and until this happens, a few basic appointments in the economy are stuck; because the protectors of the fever are repelling with their bodies the hostile job industry.” Sharoni pointed to the vacuum in many Israeli institutions, as there is still no inspector general, and the Supreme Court has been performing its duties without a president since Esther Hayut retired, “and for half a year there has been no director of the government companies authority, and the National Insurance Institute has been without a director general for two years. Soon we will also be without a personnel affairs officer.” The Israeli writer spoke about what she called absurd bills proposed in the Knesset, such as transferring responsibility for the Land Authority to Itamar Ben-Gvir, transferring responsibility for electing the judges’ ombudsman to the Knesset, factional preferences for Israeli Channel 14, and a reformist preference for the Haredi sector in public service appointments. Sharoni stressed that in the name of the survival of the government coalition, the Israeli budget has witnessed financial abuse, “the coalition funds that he promised would not be transferred if they did not contribute to the war effort, continued to flow like marches from Hezbollah.” She pointed out that the budget deficit exceeded the 6.6% line that we promised, “which creates a risk of downgrading the credit rating and perpetuating high interest,” indicating that food prices, which Netanyahu promised to reduce, are rising every month. Sharoni explained that Netanyahu is doing everything in his power to neutralize potential strict measures in the budget, “and if it were up to him, he would enact legislation that would allow the government to continue to exist, even if the budget was not approved by the Knesset.” She stressed that the behavior of the Netanyahu government in economic and social affairs is worrying, and in security affairs it is frightening, asking, “How many more months will the war continue, and when will the settlers return to the north? All of this will affect the security budget. Under the auspices of the Netanyahu government, the burden of service on reserve and regular soldiers has increased.”
