The Iranian authorities raised the red flag on the dome of the Jamkaran Mosque, which in Shiite tradition symbolizes unjust bloodshed and calls for revenge for a murdered person.
According to the Russian website Avia Pro , which specializes in military affairs, Tehran made this decision after the killing of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and promised a tough response to this incident.
A statement issued by the Iranian mission to the United Nations said: “The response to the killing will in fact be a more severe special operation aimed at causing deep regret for the perpetrator of the crime.”
According to representatives of the mission, Iran intends to carry out an operation against Israel in response to the killing of Haniyeh, and this is not the first time that Iran has resorted to raising the red flag.
The last time such a measure was carried out was on January 3, 2024, after a terrorist attack in Kerman province, when ISIS militants detonated two bombs on the road of a mourning procession on the occasion of the anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani. Tehran then also called for revenge and promised to take strict measures in response to the attack.
Details of the Israeli intelligence method in tracking "Haniyeh" until his assassination
On the other hand, the Russian "Avia Pro" website, which specializes in military affairs, reported that Israeli intelligence was able to track the Hamas leader using the “WhatsApp messenger” program.
Some sources indicate that Israeli intelligence was able to track Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh using the WhatsApp program. According to informed sources, the Israelis planted a spyware program on Haniyeh’s phone via a WhatsApp message, and this program made it possible to determine the exact location of the house in which the Hamas leader was located, and as a result, a missile strike was launched from a drone at the specified address.
It is believed that a program similar to the Pegasus spyware developed by the Israeli company NSO Group was used in this operation. Pegasus has previously proven to be a powerful tool for hacking iPhones and Android devices via various channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, iMessage, etc.
This program allows you to extract messages, photos, emails, contacts, and GPS data from smartphones, as well as record calls and quietly turn on the microphone and camera.
Interestingly, it is precisely such technologies that Ukraine and its allies use to track Russian servicemen in the special military operations zone, which is why a ban on the use of devices in combat zones has been imposed to avoid information leaks and ensure the safety of soldiers.
