Urgent.. Dr. Abbas Sharaqi: The turbines of the Renaissance Dam are in a state of complete silence
Dr. Abbas Sharaqi, Professor of Geology and Water Resources at Cairo University, said: A recent video from the Renaissance Dam site showed that the body of the dam and the bridge above the middle corridor and the area of the water collection basins that emerge from the turbines are in a state of operation, while they are in a state of complete rest when not operating.
Sharqi explained that in the case of operation, water rushes from the highest level of the lake Towards the gates of the turbine tunnels, from the upper one at 595 metres, and the lower one at 565 metres, to the turbines at the bottom of the river at 500 metres. The turbines turn and then the water comes out rushing towards the water collection basin, forming severe eddies that appear in a light colour. In the case of inactivity, the water is completely calm in the turbine basin. Without a change in color, this is what appeared on all satellite images since last September 5.
