TV host Matt Doran’s next move is revealed – as his wife makes a major announcement after he abruptly exited Weekend Sunrise

Former Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran is set to kick off a new chapter in the United States as his wife announces she is leaving her role as executive producer of Nine’s Today show.

Kendall Bora told Nine staff on Tuesday that she and her TV presenter husband, 42, were moving to Los Angeles in order for her to take up the role of US bureau chief for the network.

‘Kendall has had a stellar run at Today Show as EP and has spearheaded a number of transformative projects, including the streamlining of the entire Today Show team,’ said Fiona Dear, Nine’s director of news and current affairs.

‘I’m excited about what she can achieve as head of Nine’s famed US bureau.’

Her husband Doran made an abrupt exit from the high-rating Channel Seven breakfast program in December.

It was the end of a scandal-plagued five year stint that included police being called when he went missing on a job and a trainwreck interview with pop star Adele where he admitted he had failed to listen to her new album.

Matt Doran and his wife Kendall are ‘looking forward to starting a new chapter’

‘Kendall and Matt have been looking forward to starting a new chapter in their lives together,’ a TV source said.

‘The was a lot of dramas surrounding the end of his time at Seven and they’re really looking forward to the chance to start afresh.’

Daily Mail Australia understands Doran is hoping to make documentaries in the US.

Doran announced his departure from Seven in November, saying he had ‘agonised’ over leaving ‘one of the best jobs on earth’ but that he and Bora thought the time was right for a new challenge.

‘While I’m sad… where I am right now is honestly a place of incredible gratitude,’ he said.  For the laughs, the lessons, the tears, the phenomenal sense of life perspective, the carousels of astonishing snacks (even the tofu).’

Previously a crime reporter, Doran joined Seven in 2017, signing on to the network’s then-flagship current affairs show, Sunday Night.

Doran was replaced on Weekend Sunrise by US correspondent David Woiwod.

Nine also announced former foreign correspondent Michael Best will be installed as the network’s Sydney news director.

Long serving news director Simon Hobbs was dismissed last November after almost 13 years in the role amid a brutal killing season in the network, in the wake of a report into the TV station’s culture.
