Trump fires back after Chief Justice John Roberts’ surprise rebuke: Live updates

President Donald Trump fired back after Chief Justice John Roberts publicly rebuked him for calling for a ‘radical left lunatic’ judge to be impeached. 

‘For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,’ Roberts said in a curt statement issued by the Supreme Court. ‘The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.’ 

Speaking to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump said that Roberts’ statement didn’t call him out by name. 

‘He didn’t mention my name… But many people have called for his impeachment, the impeachment of this judge. I don’t know who the judge is, but he’s radical left. He was Obama-appointed.’

The president made good on his declaration to release over 80,000 pages of secret documents related to the assassination of JFK. 

The thousands of pages documents were posted on the National Archives website on Thursday evening.

Zelensky: Russia struck Ukrainian infrastructure

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian civilian infrastructure was hit even after President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin agreed to a partial ceasefire.

‘Unfortunately, there have been hits, specifically on civilian infrastructure,’ Zelensky wrote on X. ‘A direct hit by a ‘Shahed’ drone on a hospital in Sumy, strikes on cities in the Donetsk region, and attack drones currently in the skies over the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions.’

In a lengthy phone call on Tuesday, Trump and Putin agreed to an ‘energy and infrastructure ceasefire’ that would last 30 days.

‘Today, Putin effectively rejected the proposal for a full ceasefire. It would be right for the world to respond by rejecting any attempts by Putin to prolong the war,’ Zelensky said of Russia’s move.

President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will speak today in their first conversation since their disastrous Oval Office meeting last month.

The two leaders will discuss Trump’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the proposed partial ceasefire.

‘Today I will have contacts with President Trump and we will discuss the next steps,’ Zelensky during a press conference as part of his visit to Finland.

Well, he didn’t mention my name in the statement. I just saw it quickly. He didn’t mention my name… But many people have called for his impeachment, the impeachment of this judge.

I don’t know who the judge is, but he’s radical left. He was Obama-appointed. And he actually said we shouldn’t be able to take criminals, killers, murderers, horrible, the worst people, gang members, gang leaders, that we shouldn’t be allowed to take them out of our country. Well, that’s a presidential job. That’s not for a local judge to be making that determination.
