Troy Deeney claims Rio Ferdinand is ‘full of nonsense’ after the Man United legend predicted Ruben Amorim’s men would win just ONE more Premier League game – as Jeff Stelling reveals reason for crazy forecast

Troy Deeney has clapped back at Rio Ferdinand for his ‘nonsense’ prediction that Manchester United will win only one of their final Premier League games.
Ferdinand expressed concerns over his former club retaining their top-flight status after suffering their 12th defeat of the campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim’s men have dropped to 15th place in the Premier League table after James Maddison scored the only goal in United’s 1-0 defeat by Spurs.
However, with 29 points after 25 games, and 31 points behind leaders Liverpool, the Red Devils are now only two spots above the relegation zone, sitting narrowly ahead of West Ham and Wolves .
During his podcast on his YouTube channel , Ferdinand shared his concerns over a potential shock drop to the Championship and predicted that the Red Devils will win only one of their final remaining league matches.
However, Ferdinand’s assessment has been rubbished by Deeney, who suggested that the former centre back was only fishing for clicks.
Troy Deeney has rubbished Rio Ferdinand’s claim that Manchester United could be relegated this season

The former Manchester United defender shared his concerns that the Red Devils could win only one of their final 13 matches in the league

The Premier League giants have earned just 29 points from their first 25 matches in the division
‘I’ve just seen our producer because he knows I’m going to go to town on this,’ he began on talkSPORT. ‘He’s trying to get me on the clicks already.
‘I think Rio is full of nonsense on this situation. I guess he’s trying to say that how they’re currently playing they can’t really win anything. I just think, this is still Man United, they will pull it together.
‘If you look at the games they have left to play; Everton this weekend, I fancy them in that game. Ipswich, I fancy them in that game. Arsenal, they’ve already shown they can put in a result against them.
‘Leicester they’re going to beat as well. Forest and Man City are obviously difficult but they’ve already beaten City as well. They’re going to beat Wolves.
‘And they’ll beat West Ham so there’s four already. I just think with Rio it’s this thing of trying to overdramatise it but there’s no need to.
‘I’ve seen him do games where he’s critiquing Arsenal but then the next day he doesn’t do that Man United game because he doesn’t want to critique them too much. Enjoy the podcast but not that.’
Host Jeff Stelling then claimed that Ferdinand may have only shared the opinion to attract listeners to his podcast.
His cutting words followed Ferdinand’s’ claim that Amorim’s side are in danger of suffering the club’s first relegation to the second tier in 51 years.

Eight of Man United’s losses have come under new manager Ruben Amorim, who took over in November
‘Manchester United are absolutely struggling at the moment,’ he said. ‘Only Wolves and West Ham separate my club from the relegation places. Do you realise we’re that close?
‘Someone said we need 11 points just to stay up and I’m starting to think like that.
‘The only place I potentially see us getting anything – and I’m not even saying a win – is Leicester. We’ve slapped up Leicester a couple of times already this season so we’ve got their number.
‘Normally you look at the fixture list and you can see where the points are coming from.
‘We just looked at the fixture list and I’m not seeing outright wins, I’m not looking at it thinking there’s three points here and there’s three points there. That’s the problem.’
Eight of Man United’s league defeats this season have come under Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in November.
After the disastrous result against Spurs, Amorim urged that he is mostly worried about the team’s place in the league table, rather than his potential exit from Old Trafford after only a few months.
The Portuguese was without 12 squad players, but most importantly, he was without a large number of key figures in the midfield, such as Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen.

United have now fallen to 15th place in the Premier League, only two spots above the drop zone
Despite completing the signing of Patrick Dorgu for £29.4million from Lecce during the January transfer window , United remain in a worrying financial situation.
Several players have left the side during winter, including Marcus Rashford and Antony, who completed loan moves to Aston Villa and Real Betis, respectively.
Earlier, Amorim admitted that United will have to sell players in order to make new acquisitions during the upcoming summer transfer window.
In this case, the Red Devils may considering selling youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who have attracted strong interest from Chelsea and Napoli previously.
Both academy products could be targets again due to the fact that they are worth 100 per cent profit under PSR rules.
