Transport announces a detailed operating plan for 100 buses to transport forum attendees free of charge
In implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to the Egyptian government to prepare for the launch of the activities of the World Urban Forum during the period from 4 – November 8, 2024, the Ministry of Transport issued a media statement today in which it indicated that, within the framework of coordination with all concerned parties to serve the forum’s visitors, the Ministry has completed preparations for providing modern, environmentally friendly means of transportation.
The Ministry of Transport, represented by the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and Cairo Governorate, has prepared a detailed operating plan to transport forum attendees free of charge during its holding period for those registered to attend the activities on the forum platform (100 environmentally friendly buses (30 buses). Gas & 70 electricity buses) in order to facilitate the forum’s visitors and support their movement from and to the forum’s headquarters in Al-Manara Center. It was also decided that the service hours will be from 6:15 am to 10 pm throughout the day from 9 main stations in the Greater Cairo area. Direct dispatch, so that buses depart directly from the main designated stations to the event venue without stopping at any other stations, with a transit time of up to 10 minutes at peak times. The stations are as follows (Third Settlement – Mohandiseen – Stadium – Sheraton – Abdel Moneim Riad – Abbasiya – Maadi – Dream Park – First Settlement) Note that the availability code for people of determination is available on these buses at a rate of 30%.
The Ministry’s statement indicated that coordination was made with UBER to provide a discounted service for transportation to and from the center. Al-Manara, through the use of the company’s promo code, which will be published on the forum platform (the forum’s application). An electronic application has also been made available through the QR download link to serve the forum goers to know the times and locations of the buses for transporting the forum goers, so that the application included the ( Bus schedules – Map of bus routes – the possibility of planning trips from the Google website to use other public transportation means in Cairo, such as the metro, electric train, and public transportation buses.
The Ministry of Transport, represented by the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, has also provided a guide To serve forum goers through the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport (www.mot.gov.eg) and the official forum platform (where the guide includes (a definition of the service provided to the forum – data of departure stations (station name – the geographical location of the station on Google Maps) Departure times from the stations, back and forth) and a Schematic Map of the routes. A WhatsApp number (01210126662) has also been allocated for customer service in Arabic and English.
The Ministry of Transport will also monitor the service provided and its quality during the forum activities (following the progress of buses and executing trips).
