The Ministry explained – in a statement today, Sunday – that in response to the video circulated on the social networking site “Facebook” Which shows works interpreted as the demolition of one of the stones of the Great Pyramid (Khufu) in the archaeological area of the Giza Pyramids. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities explains that what is shown in the video is not a demolition, but rather the removal of modern, non-archaeological building materials (mortar), which were placed decades ago. She added that the Supreme Council of Antiquities is currently removing these materials as part of a project to modernize the lighting network for the Great Pyramid, without harming the body of the pyramid or any of its original stones.
