Tottenham confirm loan signing of Lens centre-back Kevin Danso – as Ange Postecoglou gets a defender in after hijacking Wolves’ move for star
Tottenham have completed the signing of Lens defender Kevin Danso on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Spurs have swooped to hijack Wolves’ deal for Austria defender Danso from Lens in France after their efforts to sign Fikayo Tomori from Milan stalled.
An injury to Radu Dragusin and the delayed return of Cristian Romero convinced them they needed to add a defender before the deadline on Monday.
Danso 26, has played in England before with a youth career at Reading and Milton Keynes Dons, and a spell at Southampton. He has spent the last four years at Lens.
Mail Sport reported on Saturday night that Tottenham had agreed a £20.5million fee, with a view to a five-and-a-half-year contract.
Wolves had already agreed a loan move with an option to buy but the north Londoners managed to persuade him to join them instead.

The centre-back, 26, joins from French club RC Lens to give Ange Postecoglou a needed boost
Spurs have been in the market for at least one centre-back after Dragusin went off injured against IF Elfsborg in midweek, although Micky van de Ven did return for the 3-0 Europa Legue win.
Spurs had earlier signalled their interest in Chelsea’s Axel Disasi after Fikayo Tomori stalled on his move from AC Milan.
Danso has been part of a successful Lens team who came second in the 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign and performed admirably in last season’s Champions League.
This season they have the best defensive record in Ligue 1, having conceded just 18 goals in 20 games.
The Austria international made 128 appearances for Le Sang et Or, scoring four goals.
