Top doctor, 46, ‘tries to MURDER glamorous nuclear engineer wife by shoving her off Hawaii beauty spot’

A prominent tried to murder his nuclear engineer wife by shoving her off a trail in Hawaii and hitting her in the head with a rock, according to police.
Gerhardt Konig, 46, was arrested on Monday after he allegedly pushed his 36-year-old wife, Arielle Konig, from the Pali Lookout in Oahu, leaving her in critical condition.
Arielle reportedly told officials Konig had assaulted her with closed fists and an object, according to the Star Advertiser.
She suffered serious head and facial injuries, local media reported.
Konig, an anesthesiologist, was taken into custody after a short manhunt. He was found in near the hiking trail after fleeing the scene on foot, officials said.
The couple lives in Maui in a $1.5million home, but were visiting the beauty spot in Oahu at the time of the alleged incident.
Koenig has been suspended from his job for an independent contractor that serves various facilities under Maui Health.

‘Maui Health is committed to patient safety and upholding the highest standards of care,’ Maui Health told KHON2 a statement.
‘We have been made aware of the allegations against Gerhardt Konig, MD. Dr. Konig has been suspended from the Medical Staff pending investigation.’
Konig previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Engineering.
