‘Tone-deaf’ Dance Moms alum is slammed for easily avoidable mistake that cost her $3K on a single dinner

Dance Moms alum, Mackenzie Ziegler, is getting called out for making a mistake that cost her a whopping $3,000 on a single dinner.

While setting up a birthday dinner for her boyfriend, the 20-year-old revealed on TikTok that she accidentally booked the meal for the wrong night.

This resulted in her having to pick up and pay for the entire meal, intended to be split between 22 people, all by herself, then having to go back to the same restaurant the next day.

After documenting the ordeal in a since-deleted video, which showed her struggling to figure out what to do with all the takeout, the former reality star was branded ‘out of touch.’

Social media users also began scrutinizing how she handled the situation amid concerns of a potential recession in 2025.

‘Kenzie Ziegler is complaining about spending $3k on sushi, when most people can’t afford eggs,’ one TikTok user wrote.

Others said they ‘genuinely can’t imagine how little self awareness she must have if she thinks this was an appropriate story to share in today’s climate.’

‘I can’t believe people are this upset over me paying $3,000 for messing up dinner plans and having to pay for the whole meal when the original dinner plans were everyone (22 people) split the dinner,’ she wrote in a post, captured by a Reddit user.

She continued: ‘I had to deal w the consequences and pay for it all because I messed up the time.’

In response to suggestions that she should have donated the sushi to prevent it from going to waste, Ziegler told fans that ‘bringing food to homeless people at 11pm is NOT safe in LA.’

‘If I brought it to them tmrw it would be bad. It’s SUSHI. It’s raw fish. I would’ve loved to. I do charity work constantly, but this type of food is not salvageable after a day,’ she explained.

The Anatomy singer also called it ‘insane’ for people to have commented ‘rich people problems’ under her post as she insisted she has never spent ‘this much on anything’ for herself.

‘I wasn’t trying to make a relatable video. I was saying how f**ked I am and had to make it light hearted,’ she concluded.

In a video recapping the incident, however, TikTok user, @lynreality, points out that the star bought a home in Los Angeles, brand-new car and has a ‘lot of designer stuff.’

@Lynreality’s video has more than 898,200 views on TikTok and 638 comments, where viewers are fiercely debating what they would have done in Ziegler’s place.

While some complained Ziegler’s post was ‘out of touch’ and ‘tone-deaf,’ others defended her.

One TikTok user commented: ‘I mean it is rich people problems. But it’s HER MONEY and she took financial responsibility for it.’

‘y’all realize 3k divided by the 22 ppl is like $136. hell i’d be mad too if i had to pay 3k bc i screaed up the date,’ another wrote.

A third commented: ‘Girl has been working since she was 6 years old and had no say in the matter, she can spend her money however she pleases.’

Another explained there was a difference between Ziegler buying herself a car and home versus unexpectedly ‘dropping 3k on sushi.’

DailyMail.com has reached out to Ziegler’s representatives, but have not heard back, at this time.
