Timothée Chalamet Slammed Over ‘Cringe’ SNL Joke About Late US President Jimmy Carter

Actor Timothée Chalamet has copped some backlash for a joke he made about late US President Jimmy Carter during his hosting gig on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Over the weekend the Dune superstar took on hosting responsibilities on the beloved comedy sketch show SNL, where a bunch of comedians and actors play a bunch of wacky characters and act out bizarre storylines.

While most of the skits poke fun at the world, and the current events that are unfolding, it’s one joke that Timothée Chalamet made that particularly ruffled the feathers of viewers.

You see, one of the skits Chalamet starred in was a joke on bungee workouts, where those health punters use bungees attached to the ceilings in the bid to get into shape.

Taking on the role of health instructor, Chalamet instructs his fellow gym goers (comedians) to complete a variety of moves including the “frog”, “jumping jacks without hands” and a “troll walk”.

However, when Chalamet said to do a “Jimmy Carter”, the comedians all stopped moving and hung from the bungees, as if they were dead.

Soon after the sketch went to air, some punters took to social media with their cents, with some dubbing the comedic bit as “too soon”.

Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States who died late last year. His cause of death was not shared at the time, but according to US Outlet Today, the former president was in hospice care.

Look, I’m not an SNL girlie — the Domingo thing was not a vibe for me — but I can see how this could piss people off.
