Thursday: the launch of the activities of the ninth session of the Cairo Forum for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, will begin next Thursday the activities of the ninth session of the Cairo International Forum for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy “The Course of the Great Calligrapher Muhammad Hamam,” which is organized by the Cultural Development Fund Sector, headed by the architect Hamdi Al-Satohi, Assistant Minister for Cultural Projects and Supervisor of the Fund Sector. The forum – which is held in cooperation with the Egyptian Arabic Calligraphy Association – carries the slogan “Building Renewed”.

This year’s forum includes several distinct events: The new session’s activities begin at seven in the evening on Thursday, October 24th. With the opening of the general exhibition of Arabic calligraphy inside the Palace of Arts in Opera Square, where 160 male and female artists from 16 Arab and foreign countries participate in the forum: the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, Lebanon, Poland, the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, China, Syria. , Indonesia, Morocco, Thailand, Libya, Italy, Yemen.

 

The number of participants in the official competition of the forum was; 80 contestants from Egypt, and 31 foreign and Arab contestants, in addition to inviting a group of senior calligraphers, guests of honor and honorees, in addition to the participating trainees from the Khudair Al-Boorsaidi School of Arabic Calligraphy in Cairo, numbering 35 male and female students.

 

The activities also include an international scientific symposium held at the Hanager Cinema from October 25 to 27, which discusses and presents several academic researches related to the arts of Arabic calligraphy, in addition to specialized artistic workshops that provide rich practical experiences for those interested in Arabic calligraphy. The small theater at the Cairo Opera House is scheduled to witness the conclusion of the forum’s activities at seven in the evening on Sunday, October 27.
