They discussed ways to maximize the role of scientific research in advancing the industrial and transportation sectors

Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, and Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held an expanded meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, in the presence of a number of leaders from the Ministries of Industry, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, to discuss maximizing the role of scientific research in advancing… In the industrial sectors. The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport stressed that cooperation between the two sides can contribute to solving many of the problems facing the industrial sector and the challenges it faces, especially since Egypt is one of Countries that have a large scientific base and are full of human resources, noting that solving problems related to providing fuel and energy, especially  New and renewable energy, in addition to rationalizing the use of current energy, is a top priority for the Ministry of Industry, which is keen to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to find solutions in this regard. Providing the necessary water to cover the needs of the industrial and agricultural sectors is one of the most important goals of cooperation between the two sides. 

 

The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport explained that it falls within the scope of joint cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the coming period, which is to study mechanisms for providing the technological processors necessary to prepare the use of Iron ore as one of the necessary production requirements for many industries is directed to activate the role of the Department of Metallurgy and Mining at the Tabbin Institute for Mineral Studies affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and to enhance coordination and cooperation between it and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

And among other things: For his part, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that integration between scientific research and industrial innovation is the gateway to the development of the Egyptian economy, as he reviewed the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, during which  Identifying and studying promising economic activities in each of Egypt’s seven regions and developing an action plan for the Ministry in the sectors of industry, agriculture, tourism, trade, urbanization, health and communications in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, pointing to the results of the Alliance and Development Initiative launched by the Ministry under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. The most important of which is the creation of academic alliances in the seven regions to integrate with the region’s needs to reach a knowledge-based economy. 

He pointed to a number of future projects for the two ministries, including the manufacture of low-speed electric cars (EV-Tech), where the first 100 cars were produced. A pilot in the industrial zone in the Fifth Settlement, with a local component of 60%, and the target is to reach 83% within the next 3 years. From the Ministry of Industry to the factory during the coming period, expressing its readiness to provide all aspects of support to the factory to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian industry. Representatives of the Academy of Scientific Research also announced during the meeting the success of producing artificial respirators approved by the European Union and licensed by the Egyptian Medicines Authority, with 100% Egyptian technology.
