The World Health Organization announces a record number of COVID-19 weekly infections

The World Health Organization (WHO) has published data that between January 3 and 9, more than 15 million people worldwide have contracted the coronavirus.

In total, 15,453,286 people were infected over the past week, which, according to the World Health Organization, shows an increase of 55% compared to the previous seven days.
Most cases are still reported in Europe, with a 31% increase in infection, but the increase is particularly high in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific.
In Africa, a decrease in infection was recorded by 11% per week.

Over the past week, 43,461 people have died worldwide.
