Al-Azhar Mosque organized a weekly meeting for people of determination entitled “The Virtue of the Month of Rajab,” as part of its efforts to convey the message of Islam to all segments of society, and Dr. Mona Ashour, a preacher at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and a member of the Arab Organization for Sign Language Interpreters, where the content was presented in sign language to a large number of deaf and hard of hearing people, which comes as part of a series of religious lessons that aim to enable this group to understand the teachings of Islam in a language that suits their needs.
During the meeting, the preacher addressed Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, The status of the month of Rajab as one of the sacred months about which God Almighty said: {Indeed, the number of months with God is twelve months in the Book of God on the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. That is the valuable religion}, explaining the virtue of the Holy Month, and avoiding injustice in it, whether against oneself or others.
She also stressed the importance of increasing acts of worship during it, such as fasting and praying night prayers. Citing the hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: “O God, bless Rajab and Sha’ban for us and let us reach Ramadan.” She explained that Rajab represents an opportunity to prepare spiritually for the month of Ramadan, and presented some situations from the lives of the Companions, as they venerated the sacred months and were keen to do many good deeds during them, noting that following their example is a way to strengthen the relationship with God.
The preacher at the Islamic Research Academy called on this group of people of determination to actively participate in religious events, stressing that God looks at hearts and deeds, and not To sensory abilities, attendees also had the opportunity to ask their questions and answer them in sign language.
