The United States is negotiating with Qatar to supply gas to Europe instead of Russia

The United States is negotiating with Qatar to supply gas to the European Union in the event of a conflict in Ukraine.

A source in Joe Biden’s administration said: “We are trying to understand what can be done to prepare for this development, especially in light of the cold season and stocks are so low.”

In addition to Qatar, whose gas exports go to Japan, the White House also plans to hold talks with other countries that produce natural gas.

The White House said, “There is no magic wand. This is all very complicated and confusing. We’re regulating how the market works, how the commercial terms for delivery and the shipping industry work.”
