The Undersecretary of the State Council obtains a master’s thesis on “The Role of Digital Transformation in Enhancing Brand Protection”

Counselor Hamdi Darwish, Undersecretary of the State Council, obtained a master’s degree in Intellectual Property and Creativity Management from the National Institute of Intellectual Property at Helwan University, with distinction, for a thesis entitled “The Role of Digital Transformation in Enhancing Brand Protection.”

< p>The study addressed the role of digital transformation technologies in enhancing brand protection in Egypt, by stating the definition of digital transformation and the position of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Law on it, clarifying the legal system for protecting trademarks in Egypt, and highlighting local and international efforts regarding activating digital transformation technologies in managing… Intellectual property offices, and reviewing the position of the World Intellectual Property Organization on supporting digital transformation in protecting trademarks.

The study aims to reach a legislative treatment of the legislation regulating the protection of trademarks in Egypt, to regulate the use of advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence in protecting trademarks.

The researcher recommended the necessity of developing a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property and the National Council for Artificial Intelligence established pursuant to Prime Minister’s Resolution No. 2889 of 2019, to coordinate and cooperate on achieving the maximum possible benefit from artificial intelligence technology in the field of examining and registering trademarks to be registered.

The discussion and judging committee was formed by Nadia Mohamed Moawad, Professor of Commercial Law and former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Helwan University, as Chairman, and Dr. Khalil Victor Tadros, Professor of Commercial Law and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cairo University, as a member, and Prof. Dr. Maher Mustafa Mahmoud, Professor of Commercial Law, full-time at the Faculty of Law, Helwan University, as Supervisor and Member.
