The Speaker of the House of Representatives participates in the work of the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva
Counselor Dr. Hanafi Gebali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, participated, at the head of an Egyptian parliamentary delegation, in the work of the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its related meetings, held in Geneva. During that participation, the Speaker of the House of Representatives delivered a speech on The topic “Harnessing science, technology and innovation for a more peaceful and sustainable future”, the highlights of which were as follows:
At the beginning of the speech, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali addressed Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Egyptian Parliament’s celebration this year of the centenary of its accession to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as he pointed out that the Egyptian Parliament renews the pledge it made to itself since joining the Union to play a pioneering role in strengthening the mechanisms of serious global parliamentary dialogue, as confirmed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali said that the Egyptian Parliament, as it was in the past, carrying the banner of the independence of the Arab and African peoples, will continue to fulfill the trust it held towards Arab and African issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, in an effort to establish the desired independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Achieving comprehensive and sustainable development and establishing security and stability in all parts of the Arab and African region.
During the speech, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the importance of parliamentarians directing their countries towards giving special importance to enhancing international scientific cooperation and linking science with societies and their issues.
