The Prime Minister is following up on the position of drinking water and sanitation projects nationwide
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed the government’s keenness to quickly complete various projects related to drinking water and sanitation, in a way that contributes to their speedy entry into service, in an effort to improve the level of services provided to citizens through these projects, especially sanitation projects in Egyptian villages
This came in a meeting held today by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to follow up on the position of drinking water and sanitation projects nationwide, and what is being implemented within the framework of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life,” in the presence of… Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, and Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater.During the meeting, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny gave a presentation. It includes the strategic objectives of the drinking water and sanitation facilities sector and its future plans, indicating that work is underway to expand the integrated projects of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” In this sector, increasing seawater desalination plants, expanding the establishment of wastewater treatment plants, improving the efficiency of existing treatment plants, and reusing treated wastewater and agricultural wastewater, in addition to building the capabilities of workers in the drinking water and wastewater sector at all job levels, and activating participation with the sector. Special in implementing projects in this sector.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny also gave a presentation on the position of the projects implemented by the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater and its subsidiaries nationwide, which are scheduled to be completed next June, and include 57 projects in the first phase of the initiative. Presidential "a decent life" To develop the Egyptian countryside, and 76 projects are being implemented in cooperation with international development partners, in addition to 40 projects being implemented within the company’s investment plan.
The Minister of Housing also clarified the executive position of the projects of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, which are scheduled to be completed. Next June, it includes 14 drinking water projects, with a total capacity of 250 thousand cubic meters per day, and 12 urban sanitation projects, with a total capacity of 73 thousand cubic meters per day, in addition to 25 projects for rural sanitation.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny pointed out The Executive Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation is working to implement 51 water and sanitation projects, including 10 drinking water projects, with a capacity of 700 thousand cubic meters per day, serving more than 3.5 million people, and 11 urban sanitation projects, with a capacity of 103 thousand cubic meters per day. It serves 188 thousand people, and 30 projects for sanitation in rural areas, with a capacity of 52 thousand m3 per day, and serves 250 thousand people, pointing out that the initial delivery of 40 projects and 6 treatment plants in the first phase of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” is underway.
Regarding the procedures and controls for rationalizing water use, the Minister of Housing pointed out the efforts being made in this regard to implement the state’s directives to achieve the maximum benefit from water resources, through expanding the installation of meters for various establishments, in addition to intensifying awareness campaigns in a way that contributes In spreading water awareness, to use water rationally, to preserve it from waste and to rationalize consumption.
