Dr. Ahmed Al-Qasid, President of Menoufia University, chaired the meeting of the first committee for the internationalization of the university, which aims to coordinate the efforts of the offices and departments concerned with preparing and following up on the university’s international standing, such as international relations, university classification, expatriates, international publishing, funded projects, innovation, patents, central laboratories, and TICO, in order to coordinate among themselves and under the auspices of the university’s senior management. To clarify targeted plans to increase the university’s competitiveness at the international level. This was in the presence of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Nasser Abdel Bari, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies, Dr. Ikrami Gamal, Secretary-General of the University, and the relevant committee members.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Qassed stressed the importance of the diversity included in this committee to follow up and implement the university’s plan to strengthen its presence on the global scene, pointing out the necessity of holding a committee meeting periodically to discuss progress in various fields and overcome obstacles, if they exist, in this context.
During the meeting, the University President stressed the importance of encouraging investment in education as one of the most important tributaries of sustainable development, by opening the way for more partnerships and agreements with countries of the world that have a distinguished experience in university education.
He stressed the necessity of exchanging scientific and research expertise between the university and international universities, noting that the coming period will witness more cooperation and exchange of experiences and various educational programs, and increased cooperation in the scientific and research fields with a number of prestigious international universities, within the framework of the university’s endeavor to establish an international university on land. University in Sadat City.
Al-Qasid pointed out the importance of the university’s societal and economic role by adopting many initiatives that contribute to linking research products with industry, directing scientific research to serve society, and contributing to confronting the challenges facing economic growth, in order to achieve the state’s sustainable development goals (Egypt Vision 2030).
The university president explained the importance of universities becoming self-financing, studying how to make public universities self-financing, and exploiting the university’s brand in marketing various university services, including patents, utility models, and innovations, marketing scientific research outputs, and carrying out consulting, design, and management work in the field of technology incubators and startup companies. Emphasizing Menoufia University’s endeavor to be a leading model for Egyptian universities in education, scientific research, and university and community life.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to increase the number of international students, encourage scientific research and international publishing, raise the university’s level in international classifications, prepare for a group of workshops in industrial areas, and increase the number of funded projects.
