The Owner Of Sex & The City Apartment Is Fed Up With Tourists

The owner of the iconic apartment that featured on Sex and the City has lashed out at a bunch of tourists who were just trying to live out their Carrie Bradshaw fantasies.

Footage of the exchange has gone viral online, and shows the owner of the brownstone, located in Manhattan’s West Village, confronting a small group of SATC fans outside his property, which was used for exterior shots as Carrie’s apartment throughout the series.

Displaying a level of frustration similar to what I felt every time Carrie went back to Big, the apartment owner can be heard telling the group they “can’t just take over the street” and lamenting how “this happens all the time”.

Later, the man — who in no way resembles Sarah Jessica Parker — says he usually “tr[ies] not to” confront fans when they come peering on his doorstep, “but sometimes people cross the line”.

“And remember, this is not empty, it’s a private home, and it’s not Carrie’s, it’s mine,” he added.

This guy is definitely a Samantha, and I’m absolutely here for it.

Afterwards, the man told reporters (per Cracked) that the group was “loitering” and declared that his home is “not a movie lot”.

According to the Instagram page @nightyourNYCguide, which was the first account to share the clip, the brownstone was purchased for $197,000 back in 1984, over a decade before Carrie and the gals first graced screens on season one of SATC.

“[The owner] never predict[ed] that Sex and the City… would become a cultural phenomenon still talked about 27 years later”, the account wrote.

Apparently, it’s not the first time the owner has bristled with fans who seemingly couldn’t help but wonder… is Carrie inside?

In January, the owners of the apartment building requested permission from the city to install a gate at the entrance to remind folks it was private property.

“After 20 plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away… I have acknowledged we need something more substantial”, the apartement’s co-owner, Barbara Lorberowners, wrote in her request to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

“In order to regain a reasonable quality of life for our tenants and ourselves: we need to install a proper gate.”

Thankfully for them, the request was approved, making for a happy ending unlike that of Big and his ill-fated stint on a Peloton.

Just between you and me, did he kind of have it coming?
