The National Center for Women participates in the celebration of the Arab Day for the Elderly and the International Day of Voluntary Work

Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, participated in Cairo in the celebration activities of the Arab Day for the Elderly and the International Day of Volunteer Work held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which came under the slogan “Giving Continues.”

This was in the presence of Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports and Chairman of The Executive Council of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, along with Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh  Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, and Osama bin Saleh Al-Alawi, Minister of Social Development of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Chairman of the 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.

In a statement on the sidelines of the celebration of the Arab Day for Seniors and the International Day of Voluntary Work, Counselor Amal Ammar stressed that the Egyptian state pays great attention to the elderly in accordance with the 2014 Constitution, which affirmed the protection of the rights of the elderly.

Article 83 stipulates the state’s obligation to provide health and social care. And cultural opportunities for them, in addition to issuing the Elderly Rights Care Law No. 19 of 2024, which represents a qualitative leap in improving the living conditions of the elderly in Egypt, and guarantees them social and health protection.

Counsel Amal Ammar indicated the council’s participation in the initiative. The presidency is a new beginning for building humanity through many activities and events, the most important of which is investing in the care economy, for which women bear great responsibility. It is the essence of human growth and development because of the invisible social and economic value it represents, and it also creates job opportunities. Emphasizing that caring for the elderly is an imperative necessity in order to achieve the principle of social solidarity and in appreciation of their great contributions to society.
