The National Council for Human Rights, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking, organized an awareness seminar for civil society organizations on the issues of migrant smuggling and human trafficking, headed by Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the Council, and Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Action, Ambassador Naela Gabr, Chair of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking, with the participation of Ambassador Mahmoud Karem, Vice President of the Council, Ambassador Fahmi Fayed, Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Ayman Zuhri, Member of the Council, and Secretary of the Committee to Combat Illegal Immigration, Dr. Mohamed Mamdouh, member of the Council and Secretary of the Economic Rights Committee, at the Council’s headquarters. Al-Ahly in the field of development, calling for strengthening the human rights vision in the work of the coalition, and emphasizing the importance of the role of civil society organizations in confronting the phenomenon of human trafficking as a strong entity that enjoys flexibility in movement and that it is the most important partner of the National Council for Human Rights.

The President of the Council indicated that human trafficking crimes in all their forms are a drain on human resources and an affront to human dignity, stressing the importance of concerted efforts among all concerned parties to combat the phenomenon of human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, given the seriousness of these crimes that not only affect national sovereignty but also The most basic human rights are violated, which is the right to life, liberty and dignity.
The Chair of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking reviewed the role of the committee, which includes 30 members, including the Council. The National Committee for Human Rights, noting that the committee is the body concerned with studying legislation, action plans and strategies to confront illegal immigration, and that through these studies the first map of illegal immigration was prepared and the governorates originating from the phenomenon were identified.
Gabr stressed the challenges facing Egypt in confronting the phenomenon of migrant smuggling, stressing the need for continued international and regional cooperation to confront this phenomenon more effectively, and the role of civil society in providing support and assistance to the victims.

Ambassador Nabila Makram explained that the governorates that export illegal immigration are among the targeted places in the coalition’s work, and work is done through empowering women economically and training and qualifying youth, stressing the need to intensify efforts to develop the villages that export the phenomenon of illegal immigration, and that there is 100,000 volunteers work to meet the needs of the most needy families in various governorates, benefiting more than 36 million citizens through the work of the National Alliance.
Zuhri reviewed the role of civil society organizations and the National Council. For human rights in combating the phenomenon, how to provide protection and support to victims, the challenges facing countries in combating these crimes, and how to implement effective laws to protect human rights.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants emphasized the The importance of continuing to hold such awareness-raising meetings to enhance cooperation between government agencies, national councils, and civil society, and to activate plans and programs that ensure full protection of human rights and reduce crimes related to migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
