The Ministry of Culture celebrates the name of the artist Shadi Abdel Salam over the course of several days

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, the Ministry of Culture celebrates the name of the great artist Shadi Abdel Salam  Through the Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Lamia Zayed, which, as part of its cultural and intellectual activity under the title “Shadi Abdel Salam Day,” is organizing special events on the evening of Wednesday, December 11, including the screening of the two films, “Armies of the Sun and Horizons,” written and directed by Shadi Abdel Salam, at six in the evening. At the Damanhour Opera, followed by a meeting moderated by the artist Ahmed El Nabawy with the film critic Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ghani. Mustafa, and it will be held at seven in the evening on the small theatre. The opera will host a cultural salon under the title “Shadi Abdel Salam, the lover-pharaoh in the eyes of creators” (The Day You Count the Years), with the participation of film director Gamal Qassem, cinematographer Samir Farag, film critic Sameh Fathi, artist Saif Abu Al-Naga and artist Walid Aouni  The salon is run by Professor Bashir Shousha and presented by Dr. Nagwa Saber.

 

 

It is worth noting that director Shadi Abdel Salam was born in March 1930 in Minya Governorate. He graduated from Victoria College in Alexandria. He studied theater arts in London and joined the College of Fine Arts in Cairo and obtained an honors degree in architecture. He was given the opportunity to enter The world of cinema through director Salah Abu Seif through the movie “Al-Fatwa” He worked as a set designer and assistant to the engineer Ramses Wassef. He worked as an assistant director on some films, most of which were by foreign directors, including Islam, the Italian film (Civilization), the American film (Cleopatra), and the Polish film (Pharaoh). He also designed decorations and clothes for the great historical film Al-Nasser Salah al-Din, until he directed many works. Important cinematic and recording films, including the film “The Mummy”… on the day when the years will be counted.. Which won many international awards and received great enthusiasm and appreciation from the cinematic community. The film was also chosen among the list of the 100 best films in the history of world cinema and direction  It is not the only area of ​​excellence in his history. He was a writer and owner of an ambitious artistic project through which he tried to reflect his vision and love for ancient Egyptian culture in its different times, expressing the authenticity of the Egyptian spirit in his films. He died in October 1986.
