The Minister of Tourism discusses developing tourism services at the Monastery of St. Paula in the Red Sea
Today, Mr. Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, received in his office at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Bishop Daniel, the papal vicar, bishop and head of the Monastery of St. Paula in the Red Sea, and the delegation accompanying him, to learn about the work being done in the restoration project of the Monastery of St. Paula in the Sea. Red and developing tourism services there.
The Minister began the meeting by welcoming Bishop Daniel and his accompanying delegation, introducing them and the brothers Christians congratulate themselves on the occasion of Christmas.
For his part, Bishop Daniel thanked the Minister for the ministry’s efforts to restore the archaeological sites located on the path of the Holy Family’s journey in Egypt and raise The efficiency of the tourism services provided therein.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the interest of the Egyptian state in reviving the itinerary of the Holy Family’s journey in Egypt as it is one of the important national projects, pointing out that the Holy Family’s product It is one of the tourism products Which the Ministry is interested in, and work is underway to develop and prepare it to receive tourists, within the framework of the Ministry’s current strategy, which is based on highlighting the diversity of tourism and archaeological capabilities, components, and patterns in Egypt, which qualifies it to be the first tourist destination in the world in terms of tourism diversity.
 
He also directed the formation of an archaeological and tourism committee from the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, headed by Engineer Ahmed Youssef, Assistant Minister for Strategic Departments Affairs and responsible for developing Holy Family producer, to inspect the monastery and the surrounding area and prepare a detailed report on the tourism infrastructure of the monastery and the surrounding area and the available tourism services, and present it to the Minister in preparation for preparing a comprehensive study to develop it and studying the possibility of including visiting the monastery within the tourism programs of tourism companies.
