The Minister of Higher Education receives his Malaysian counterpart to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two countries

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Dr. Zambri Abdul Qadeer, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, and Ambassador Mohamed Tarid Sufyan, the Malaysian ambassador to Cairo, and their accompanying delegation, at the private education building in New Cairo. This comes within the framework of the Minister’s visit. Malaysian higher education to Egypt to participate in the eleventh summit of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries for Economic Cooperation, which is being held in the New Administrative Capital.

Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed the depth of the relations that bring together Between Egypt and Malaysia, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research, he pointed out that these relations are characterized by a positive nature and fruitful cooperation. Which makes it a fundamental pillar of bilateral relations between the two countries, pointing out that this meeting is an important opportunity to discuss ways of cooperation between Egyptian and Malaysian higher education institutions, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the fields of scientific research and innovation, which contributes to achieving the aspirations of the two countries towards progress and development in these fields.

Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed to the Egyptian state’s support, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, for the higher education and scientific research system, explaining the recent achievements, such as the expansion of Accessibility, infrastructure development, and modernization of study programs; To suit the labor market, he also pointed to the diversity of the higher education system between public, private, and private universities, and branches of international universities, with a focus on technical and technological education through technological universities to meet the needs of the labor market, pointing to Egypt’s efforts to support innovation and scientific research to serve the national economy. Through the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development” He added that the Ministry provides distinguished services to international students through the “Study in Egypt” platform, while being keen to overcome all difficulties faced by Malaysian students in Egyptian universities.

Dr. Ayman Ashour also referred to the presidential initiative “Knowledge Bank” Egyptian" And its prominent role in promoting scientific research in Egypt, and raising the classification of Egyptian universities and research institutions at the regional and international levels, thanks to its containment of cultural, knowledge and research resources that support education and scientific research, stressing the importance of the bank in supporting joint research efforts between Egypt and Malaysia, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Malaysia, and benefit from the expertise available to it in the field of making and exporting knowledge, building cadres, and providing knowledge services.

During the meeting, ways of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Malaysia were discussed in the fields of Higher education and scientific research, including increasing the number of Malaysian students studying in Egyptian universities, and enhancing cooperation between universities and research centers in the two countries. Developments in establishing a branch of Alexandria University in Malaysia were also discussed, in addition to increasing scientific exchange in the fields of technological and medical education and extending partnerships. Research between the two countries.   The possibility of signing a cooperation protocol to establish a center for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in Malaysia was also discussed, in cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and enhancing cooperation in investing in higher education and awarding joint academic degrees, as well as developing study and training programs that meet the needs of the labor market, and encouraging the exchange of faculty members. And students.

The meeting also discussed the importance of exchanging experiences and best practices in maximizing the economic role of universities and research centers by strengthening ties with industry and entrepreneurs to transfer technology and transform scientific research outputs into competitive commercial products.

The Minister of Higher Education expressed The Malaysian expressed his happiness with this meeting, and expressed his deep appreciation to President Sisi and the Egyptian government for the warm reception. He congratulated Egypt on its presidency of the summit of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries, which aims to support the economy in member states, enhance participation and focus on improving the economic situation among countries, praising Egypt’s efforts in organizing The eleventh summit of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries for Economic Cooperation, which is of great importance in light of facing global economic challenges. 

The Malaysian Minister of Higher Education indicated his country’s aspiration towards Strengthening constructive cooperation with Egypt in areas of common interest, praising the major reforms Egypt has achieved in the higher education and scientific research system, and its steady progress towards developing this system during the past period. He also valued the existing cooperation between the universities of Alexandria and Kuala Lumpur, especially in the fields of medicine, He expressed his aspiration to expand this cooperation to include more academic and health specializations.
