The Minister of Higher Education calls for universities to focus on applicable research and continued participation in the initiative "beginning"

The Council thanked the Alexandria University family, headed by Dr. Abdulaziz Qanswa, President of the University, for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities. The Minister of Higher Education directed that periodic workshops be held in the presence of university presidents; To continue discussing and presenting the global developments taking place in the higher education and scientific research system in a rapidly changing global environment; To ensure that Egyptian universities keep pace with contemporary global development.
The Minister of Higher Education stressed the importance of universities intensifying the implementation of plans for various student activities (sports, artistic, cultural, and social), supporting and discovering talented, brilliant, and innovative students, and providing them with all necessary support. Receiving their research and innovative ideas, and working to develop them, in a way that contributes to transforming their innovative ideas into competitively marketable products, and helping to create marketing opportunities for them.
He directed the intensification of the implementation of educational seminars for students, the strengthening of their affiliation, and the intensification of awareness campaigns. For students to fight concepts and ideas that contradict the tolerant religious beliefs and the authentic cultural and societal legacies of the Egyptian people.
He stressed the need for universities to focus on scientific research and ideas that can be transformed into innovations and applicable products that have an economic impact on society, and to enhance cooperation. Scientific and research between universities, the industrial community, business and productive institutions, as well as linking the research product to industry, and directing scientific research to serve society.
He directed the importance of activating the role of regional alliances that were signed between universities and productive and industrial institutions, and implementing the regional alliances plan to support research. Scientific research for industry and the national economy, confronting the challenges facing the various geographical regions across the republic, and supporting the transformation of educational institutions into innovative institutions that contribute to attracting distinguished scientific cadres, in implementation of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”, which enjoys the support and patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. And in line with achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Ayman Ashour appreciated the active participation of Egyptian universities in implementing the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building Humanity,” noting that it provided services to more than 86 thousand citizens from all over the world. Age groups and societal segments, where 64 comprehensive development convoys were launched touring centres, villages and hamlets; To provide its various services to Egyptians, He stressed the continuation of launching development convoys to activate the role of universities in serving society and developing the environment at the level of all governorates.
He praised the inclusion of 35 Egyptian universities in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2025 global “general version”, He directed the need for universities to continue providing support to researchers to increase scientific publishing in prestigious scientific journals. To improve the ranking of Egyptian universities in major international classifications.
The Council heard a report on the most prominent activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the month of October. The report pointed to the holding of many meetings and gatherings with foreign officials. To discuss mechanisms for enhancing joint scientific and research cooperation.
Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the media advisor and official spokesman for the Ministry, stated that the Council honored Dr. Nihal Al-Shakanqiri, Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University, in appreciation of her efforts in providing health, therapeutic and educational services to the community. Al-Madani in her field of specialization, and provided a role model for dedication and sincerity in work. She contributed to performing thousands of surgeries on simple children from Alexandria Governorate and other governorates for free.
