The Minister of Health and Population receives the Latvian ambassador to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, received Andris Razans, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Egypt, today, Thursday, to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the health sector, at the General Office of the Ministry of Health and Population in the New Administrative Capital.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the minister began the meeting by welcoming the ambassador, stressing the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of training human cadres, by providing a package of training programs in the fields of medicine. Emergency, critical care and infectious diseases, as well as providing scholarships for healthcare workers in both countries, especially in the specializations of oncology, pediatrics and public health, within the framework of the country’s keenness to invest in human capital and hone their skills. Ways of cooperation were also discussed in the field of Manufacturing vaccines and pharmaceutical preparations, and opening a market for the exchange of medicines between the two countries.

 

Abdul Ghaffar added that the meeting also discussed the exchange of visits between the two sides, where it was agreed to arrange visits. A field visit by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Latvia during his upcoming visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to a number of hospitals and pharmaceutical factories, in order to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences between the two sides.

 

Abdul Ghaffar added, The meeting dealt with a review of the Egyptian state’s efforts to provide medical services to injured Palestinian brothers, which began since the outbreak of events in the Gaza Strip, where the minister affirmed his keenness to continue providing all aspects of support to the medical sector in Palestine.

 

For his part, Andris Razans, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Egypt, congratulated Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on the success of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development in its second edition, praising the role of those in charge of organizing such a conference, stressing his aspiration to work on strengthening relations between Egypt and Latvia. He also praised the role of the Minister of Health and Population for his efforts to advance the health sector in Egypt.
