The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirms Egypt’s commitment to strengthening joint work with the Community of Sahel-Saharan States
Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, affirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening joint work with the Community of Sahel-Saharan States.
This came during the meeting held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, today, Thursday, with Ambassador “Ido Al-Hajji” The Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, on the sidelines of his official visit to the capital, N’Djamena, within the framework of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the regional grouping, and supporting development and peace efforts in the Sahel-Saharan region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out the importance of paying Regional cooperation to confront the common challenges facing the countries of the region, especially combating terrorism and illegal immigration and building the security capabilities of member states.
He stressed the importance of activating the role of the Sahel-Sahara Center for Combating Terrorism, which Cairo hosts, so that The Center has the role assigned to it in building the capabilities of member states in the field of combating terrorism, and unifying efforts to confront the security threats facing the region, with a focus on supporting youth rehabilitation programs and combating extremist ideology.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also indicated Egypt’s readiness to provide Technical and logistical support for the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, especially with regard to mechanisms for strengthening the role of the Community, and contributing to the development of a comprehensive plan for financial and administrative reform to activate the role of the Community.
