Professor Dr. Nazir Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, inaugurated – Head of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Bodies and Houses in the World, the symposium, with the participation of His Eminence Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, representing His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar; Dr. Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, Chief Justice of Palestine – Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations; Sheikh Arun Boon Chom, Sheikh of Islam in Thailand; Dr. Qutb Sano, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy – Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Dr. Maria Mohammed Al Hatali, Secretary General of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa; And Bishop Jeremiah, General Bishop – President of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center – Assistant Secretary-General of the Egyptian Family House, with the participation of a number of senior scholars and muftis from various countries of the world, in addition to an elite group of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif professors and scholars.
In his speech, the professor presented Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, extends his sincere congratulations to His Eminence the Mufti of the Republic for organizing this important scientific forum, indicating that it came at a time when there is a great need for This thesis, discussing it, and mobilizing imams and scholars from the stakeholders around it.
The Minister of Endowments pointed out that jurisprudence is the story of God’s rulings, and it cannot be invested in reforming people’s lives except after the jurist and mufti has sufficient knowledge of people’s conditions, sciences, and knowledge. And their calamities, citing what was reported on the authority of Imam al-Shafi’i, saying: “I stayed for twenty years seeking the days of the people,” clarifying that what was meant was With the word "people’s days" It expands to include what is happening in people’s reality, including philosophies, beliefs, ideas, movements, contracts, sales, and other various forms of life.
The Minister of Endowments confirmed that Imam Al-Shafi’i (may God have mercy on him) gave of his twenty years of life to taking care of this art; Because it helps in jurisprudence, builds bridges between fatwas and intellectual security, and between jurisprudence and confronting extremism, and builds relationships between Sharia sciences, social sciences, psychology, management sciences, the laws of countries and the conditions of the world, adding that this approach is the one with which Dar Al-Iftaa addresses the topic of the symposium and its title: « “Fatwa and achieving intellectual security”; Pointing out that if the mufti achieved his knowledge to perfection, he would be the first to spot the dangers and ideas that sprout in society, so he would confront and respond. To fulfill his assigned role of inheriting prophecy to the fullest extent, and to protect society from ideas that have severed their connection with the noble Sharia.
The Minister of Endowments concluded his speech by stating that the Egyptian Fatwa House was the first to realize the importance of the approach to fatwa, as it launched a center that it named At “Salam Center” To confront extremism and terrorism, and launched a unit to confront atheism, and addressed society’s affairs, issues, concerns, calamities and developments, adding that the forum – today – brings together the minds of experts, geniuses, and smart scholars and thinkers from various countries of the world; To be a link in an extended chain of awareness, carrying out the trust to the fullest, and verifying the stature of the heirs of prophecy.
