The Minister of Endowments opens the General Assembly of the Arab Endowments Union

The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments hosted the meeting of the General Assembly and Board of Directors of the Arab Endowments Union, headed by  Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at a hotel in the New Administrative Capital.

 

A number of ministers and officials of Endowments in Arab countries participated in the meeting, The meeting discussed the importance of the Union and the necessity of activating it and building on its previous efforts in light of the developments and strong changes the region is witnessing. This is because the Union is one of the building blocks of Arab economic integration.

 

The meeting was attended by His Excellency  Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, Arab Republic of Egypt; Dr. El-Sayed Abdel Fattah, Advisor to the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Economic Unity – Acting Secretary-General of the Arab Court of Arbitration; Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Al-Khalayleh, Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places in the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darai, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat in the sisterly United Arab Emirates; Counselor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Mejbal, Assistant Undersecretary for State Issues and International Cooperation in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain – representing His Excellency Mr. Nawaf bin Hamad Al-Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in the Kingdom of Bahrain; Moamen Hassan Barre, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the sisterly Republic of Djibouti; Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Najm, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the sisterly State of Palestine; And Abdi Salem Bouye, in charge of a mission in the Ministry – as a representative of Dr. Sidi Yahya Ould Sheikhna Ould Lamrabet, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Indigenous Education of the sisterly Islamic Republic of Mauritania; And Dr. Muhammad Aida Shabiba, Minister of Endowments and Guidance in the sisterly Republic of Yemen.

 

This meeting was held with the support of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, affiliated with the League of Arab States, represented by Dr. Al-Sayyid Abdel Fattah And the assistants.

 

The participants expressed their agreement on the importance of the endowment and its culture and the preservation of its extension as a pure Islamic culture without prejudice to It produced scholars, built arches, and built hospitals, universities, and mosques. Reviving that and governing it would enhance sustainable development efforts, ward off extremist thought, agree on an inclusive work charter for pulpits, and advance the characteristics of religious discourse. 

 

The proposals addressed consideration of enhancing endowment investments, establishing an endowment bank, and establishing an electronic portal to promote investment opportunities related to the management of the endowment. Endowment, preserving endowments from decline in all its forms, and other ideas and proposals, and the importance of coordinating advocacy, awareness and enlightenment work and setting out to maximize the benefit from the world of artificial intelligence.

 

The attendees agreed to expand Membership Department, and inviting the rest of the Arab countries to join the Union, while beginning to extend invitations immediately to four sister Arab countries, which are the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the sister Sultanate of Oman, and the sister Republic of Iraq, And the sister Republic of Algeria, in preparation for inviting all the rest of the Arab countries to join and become members to achieve an advanced step in Arab solidarity and coordination of joint action. 

 

The attendees praised Egypt’s efforts led by  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in strengthening Arab solidarity and unity of position at various levels; Praising Egypt’s role in bringing together brothers in goodness always. 

 

He emphasized  Dr. Osama Al-Azhari emphasized the principles of the Egyptian state in rejecting the displacement of our Palestinian brothers from their land, urging them to persevere on it regardless of the sacrifices, and that the only solution to the Palestinian crisis is the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

 

The meeting witnessed an agreement to renew the union’s membership at the level of the presidency, the general secretariat, and other job titles, in addition to the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments. The Arab Court of Arbitration is represented by its President  Counselor Farouk Sultan, former President of the Supreme Constitutional Court. The meeting concluded by presenting the shield of the Ministry of Endowments to the dear guests of Egypt.
